H3Y win11 home user here: FPS on No Man's Sky should be much higher, I have a 3060, unless you're experiencing CPU bottlenecking. I have all graphics options maxed out.

what gpu do you have? i have a gtx 1080 (550.67 driver and proton 8-25 ge) and i cant make it work with wayland. I get like 5 fps and its unplayable (runs at 144+ on x11). I tried different combinations of driver, proton but nothing.

I'm recording with an older GoPro Hero 6. The video is great but the mics pick up an obscene amount of wind noise that make the playback almost un-listenable. Let me know if this is any good!

Not sure if you've ever seen anything done by Project Farm, but he has some videos that go in to some pretty deep dives on things like carb and injector cleaners. Personally I'm a big fan of Seafoam. I like when you break out the bike on your videos they always remind me that I need to slow down a bit grab my bike and get my butt back on the road.

I dont get it, arch isnt even hard, and using archinstall should be praised for installing making arch so accessible and fast. I did have issues with stability last year, but overall is pretty stable, for most people is actually perfect. Always updated packages, vanilla packages and its pretty minimal out of the box. You can install it in about 30 min and get a really great OS ready to do all tasks. And pacman and the AUR really make installing everything really easy. I would actually say that arch is the most beginner friendly distro because its so easy and allows for so much. Also, most internet communities have gatekeepers, its staple of the internet at this point, its not an Arch thing. Ive found lots of people that have been really helpful on alot of weird issues i was having, and i myself have tried to help alot of people with their weird issues.

I use arch linux since 2022. It's never crashed. The install script was broken at the time so I done it manually. On the community part I tried to help newbies but it's annoying because most of them fit into one of the following category: 1. can't use google (ask the same thing answered a milion times) 2. don't share any information other than something broken On the kernelpanic part: Do you used any unofficial kernel modules? The only problem I have with the kernel was a bug in amd drm (in short the vram speed set too low by default)

me a Linux user for the last 20? years a a contributor to a major open-source project getting scold by arch community for silly things basic questions... heheheh /me just ignored don't have time for this.

mate desktop 1.28 is released, but it seems that there is no distro that uses it.

I built my arch from commands following a simple tutorial, and I have not had a kernal panic since I started arch. My best guess is ( mind you, im not the best at linux ) arch install is weird, never worked for me, but I think it all depends on what you install and run, editing the kernel, IE drivers ect.

I was just cruising UA-cam to see if anyone else besides me was using Mate on openSUSE when I came across this video. As soon as I heard you say you were trying to remedy your frustration with Mate by trying Budgie I immediately thought “Uh oh” because Budgie is a bit of mess as well imho, lol.

And yes, the social aspect you mention is so real. A thing I see a LOT in subreddits are beginners who'd be perfectly happy with a simpler distro instead choosing to struggle with Arch purely so they can feel like one of the Cool Kids ™️ and fit in with the "I use Arch btw" crowd. It breaks my heart. *It's just a distro.* I love Arch, but the cult mentality in some parts of the community is absurd at times. Ohh, youre planning on building a kernel for Hobby Linux down the road? Thats cool! :3 Good luck with that!

Used to run Arch when I had a lot more time on my hands to fix things on my own. I got tired of trying to maintain computer every time it updated but I stilled wanted to stay on a rolling release distro and ended up on Manjaro because it was still on that familiar arch base. I finally ended up leaving that a few months ago due to similar problems popping up. Been using OpenSUSE Tumbleweed ever since. I absolutely love their tooling and haven't had the stability issues I faced with Arch. I hope that you are able to find 'that' distro that works your needs.
